Here are Fresh Little Love we’ve got a LOTTA love for Mama Earth. In fact, it’s kinda the basis for our entire company! In honor of Earth Day, we want to share with you all the ways our Fresh Fam is trying to honor our Mama.
Every single item found in every single one of your Fresh Little Love shipments is made without toxic chemicals. Which is great for babies’ delicate skin. But it’s also better for the environment, as chemicals from dyes can seriously pollute water sources surrounding manufacturing areas. Many of the clothes are made from organic cotton. Unlike conventional cotton, organic cotton doesn’t use pesticides which contaminate rivers and groundwater supplies. Or chemical fertilizers that degrade the soil.
Many of the brands we carry are made in the USA, which means they don’t have to travel as far to get to us and then on to you, reducing their carbon footprint compared to clothes that are manufactured on the other side of the globe. And the items that do come from overseas are made with fair trade practices, following standards that limit environmental impacts.
Every part of your Fresh Little Love box is 100% recyclable. Our boxes and tissue paper, and flyers are made from 100% recycled materials. Our stickers are made from FSC-Certified paper and are 100% recyclable and compostable. We print them with Pure Labels, the only company in the country providing such sustainable sticker options.
As an eco-mama or papa, one of the toughest pills to swallow is how much STUFF comes along with having a baby. And sure, you could do it without a lot of it, but most of it is actually pretty damn handy (we’re not sure how we would have survived without baby carriers, our magic sleeping pillow, and now they myriad of toys that keep our Little Love entertained). So, while we still do our best to consume less, we recognize the value in consuming SMARTER. What does that mean? It means consciously purchasing items that:
- Are high quality and will last through all your babies, your sister’s baby, your friends babies, maybe even your baby’s babies.
- Are going to be used frequently
- Are made by company’s who employ sustainable operations – carbon offsets, renewable energy, water conservation, recycling, etc
- Are made by company’s who give back to humanitarian or environmental purposes
- Are ethically manufactured
- Are made from sustainable materials
We also believe sharing is caring! We strongly encourage our mamas to trade/sell/share their baby goods with their communities to reduce our collective consumer impact. See #1 above.
We’re a small little business now, but we hope to be a medium little business in the future. As we grow, we are committed to integrating our values into our business operations. We’ll continue to recycle and use efficient lighting and water systems and all that good stuff. And we promise to keep our Mama Earth top of mind in every decision we make.
